- Largest industry event in the world, Feira MEDICA, will gain a Brazilian edition starting in 2020

The date for the event’s first edition has already been set: 5-8 May 2020 at the Expo Center Norte

The world's largest healthcare sector event will gain a Brazilian edition starting in 2020. It’s the MFB (Medical Fair Brasil), which will be sponsored by Messe Düsseldorf, the organizer of MEDICA trade fair. Known for being the largest healthcare sector fair in the world, MEDICA attracts over 6,200 exhibitors and 120,000 visitors, stimulating business and promoting trade all over the world.
The size of Brazil – as well as the opportunities it offers by being the eighth largest health market in the world – has called the attention of Messe Düsseldorf, and the first edition of the event has already been scheduled: 5-8 May 2020 at the Expo Center Norte in São Paulo, Brazil. The traditional German fair is already held in 13 countries and envisions Brazil as a hub for the Latin American market that will generate business for the local health industry.
For Wolfram Diener, general director of Messe Düsseldorf, the opportunities the country provides are significant. "Brazil is one of the main economies in Latin America and there is a lot to be done in the Brazilian health trade," he explains. MEDICA has been an excellent business platform for the sector by bringing together all of the segment’s major global players, and the Brazilian edition promises to be no different – the organization hopes to host 20 international pavilions during the first edition.
The MFB has the institutional support of ABIMO (Brazilian Medical, Dental and Laboratories Devices Manufacturers Association), and for Franco Pallamolla, the association’s president, it’s an excellent opportunity that also recognizes the entity's work in the segment. "ABIMO accepted the invitation to be partner of MEDICA Fair in Brazil because it not only shows the organizers’ confidence in our competence and long history of working for the development of Brazilian health while meeting the complex needs of the area, but our commitment to always seeking and offering the best for our members, as well," he says.
Malu Sevieri, director of Emme Brasil – Brazilian representative of the German entity, confirms that the quality of the partners that Messe Düsseldorf has been recruiting around the world is significant, and that in Brazil it’s no different. "We’ve had a long and trusting relationship with ABIMO and we’ve learned that in order to put on a successful regional fair, we have to have strong partners. Collaboration is the main foundation for a fruitful partnership. We’ve been impressed by the Association's ability to generate business together with the local health trade," she says. Medical Fair Brasil is also supported by Abraidi (Brazilian Association of Health Product Importers and Distributors), Abramed (Brazilian Association of Diagnostic Medicine), APM (São Paulo Association of Medicine) and the CMB (Confederation of Holy Houses of Mercy, Hospitals and Philanthropic Entities), among others.

Just like at MEDICA in Düsseldorf, MFB will have an open arena where companies and associations representing the health sector will be able to discuss relevant industry issues. The subjects will be vetted by a board created by event organizers and will bring together institutions of different sizes. "We consider it extremely important to understand the needs of big players, but also recognize the importance of smaller companies that operate successfully in a very competitive market. After all, everyone is looking for solutions to their demands," Malu says.
Focusing on providing the best user experience, Medical Fair Brasil will also provide visitors with an infrastructure arena, a recreated hospital environment that will host daily hospital problem scenarios as well as lectures.
International pavilions are also guaranteed to be there: entourages are already confirmed from countries such as Germany, Argentina, Austria, Canada, China, Korea, Spain, The United States, India, Iran, Japan, Portugal, Russia, Taiwan and Turkey.

Messe Düsseldorf Group is realigning its activities for the healthcare market in Brazil and will host the first edition of the MEDICAL FAIR BRASIL in 2020. The event will be held in São Paulo, at the Expo Center Norte, from 5 to 8 of May, 2020. Medical Fair Brasil has now joined MEDICAlliance as a further member for the South American market, also successfully represented on the continent with Meditech fair, in Colombia (Bogotá). The main sectors of interest for MEDICAL FAIR BRASIL are: medical technology/medical products and equipment, laboratory technology and diagnostics, IT, physical therapy and orthopedics, as well as general health area services.

“The Messe Düsseldorf Group: With a revenue of around EUR 294m in 2018, the Messe Düsseldorf Group has maintained its position as one of Germany’s most successful trade fair companies. 26,800 exhibitors presented their products to 1.14m trade visitors at events in Düsseldorf last year. Compared with previous events, this was an increase in the numbers of both exhibitors and visitors. The Düsseldorf exhibition centre hosts around 50 trade fairs in five sectors of expertise: machinery, plants and equipment; retail, crafts and services; health and medical technologies; lifestyle and beauty; and leisure. The trade fairs include 23 own number-one trade fairs, as well as, currently, 15 strong partner and guest events. Also, its subsidiary Düsseldorf Congress held around 2,200 conventions, corporate events, conferences and meetings in 2018, attracting around 1.6m delegates in all. In addition, the Messe Düsseldorf Group organises 70 own events, joint events and contracted events in other countries and is one of the leading export platforms in the world. The international attendance is particularly high with the capital goods trade fairs of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH. In 2018, Messe Düsseldorf's own events in machinery, plants and equipment attracted approx. 77% international exhibitors and 70% trade visitors from other countries. In all, Düsseldorf trade fairs were attended by customers from about 180 countries.
